Sheesley + Associates Announces Partnership on Three Transformative Projects for the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium Master Plan

Sheesley + Associates is proud to announce its involvement in three key projects as part of the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s bold Master Plan, unveiled in October. This ambitious plan, set to unfold over the next 5-7 years, will transform the zoo’s footprint with innovative habitats, updated facilities, and a renewed focus on animal well-being and visitor experience.

As Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium President and CEO Dr. Jeremy Goodman stated:
“The master plan blends our rich history with cutting-edge technology and innovation. Our footprint will be revitalized and energized with dynamic habitats and updated facilities, with a major concentration on animal well-being.”

Sheesley + Associates is honored to contribute to this vision through our work on three pivotal projects within Phase 1 of the plan:

  • ZooFit Trail: Designed to promote health and wellness, this innovative trail will offer visitors an engaging way to connect with the natural environment. (Developed in collaboration with Sigal Development)
  • Front Entrance Renovation: A complete overhaul of the zoo’s entrance to create a welcoming and seamless experience for all guests. (In partnership with Sigal Development, LGA Partners, Klavon Design Associates, and Iams Consulting)
  • Giraffe Barn: A state-of-the-art facility prioritizing the well-being and care of the zoo’s iconic giraffes. (In collaboration with Sigal Development, WDM Architects, P.A., LGA Partners, Klavon Design Associates, and Osborne Engineering)

These projects demonstrate Sheesley + Associates’ commitment to delivering impactful and thoughtful solutions that combine innovative design with practical execution. Each initiative is being supported by specialized teams, including partnerships with firms that bring national expertise to the table.

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s transformation will leave a lasting legacy, and Sheesley + Associates is honored to play a role in shaping its future.
